France, ambitious plan to relaunch tourism:

31/07/2025

BY Redazione

On July 24, the Interministerial Tourism Committee (CIT) was held in Angers, chaired by Prime Minister François Bayrou and attended by several government members, including Minister Delegate for Tourism Nathalie Delattre. At the heart of the discussions was the key role of tourism in driving France’s economic growth.

In 2024, France welcomed 100 million international tourists, confirming its status as the world’s leading tourist destination. However, with €71 billion in tourism revenue, it ranks only fourth globally, behind the United States, Spain, and the United Kingdom. To strengthen the sector’s economic impact – currently representing 8% of France’s GDP and 2 million direct and indirect jobs – the Committee has set an ambitious goal: reaching €100 billion in international tourism revenues by 2030.

The strategy to achieve this goal focuses on offering a more diversified, sustainable, innovative, and inclusive tourism experience. The aim is to extend the length of stays, improve their quality, and position France as the world’s leading sustainable travel destination. Among the key stakeholders at the meeting, the FNHPA (National Federation of Outdoor Hospitality) emphasized the urgent need to support the development of open-air tourism, a sector that is crucial for both the recovery of the tourism industry and the ecological transition.

The FNHPA expressed appreciation for the government measures implemented so far, including the modernization of tourism legislation, clarification of hotel deposit rules for outdoor hospitality (HPA), and simplification of regulations on light recreational accommodation (HLL). These efforts contribute to strengthening the entire sector.

Together with other forthcoming measures, these actions will provide greater legal and economic security for campsites, facilitating the recovery of establishments with strong development potential. A significant step forward for a sector aiming to become a strategic engine of the French economy.
